Cultivating a Sense of Inner Quiet

NOVEMBER 21, 2024

Hello, I'm BROOKE
I've learned a thing or two from working with adults to working with kids, and 30+ years of watercolor. I’m excited to share them with you here. Some topics are art-related, some are geared toward helping your kiddos out, and some are just straight-up soul-searching rambles. Stick around and let’s create something new together.

In our lives where we find less and less time with more and more obligations piling up, & continuously increased demands, sometimes we feel out of control and definitely stressed and exhausted. Many of us are in this state always with constantly peaking cortisol levels. How do we go on? How do we take hold of our inner peace and find solutions more easily? One way to reduce stress is through exercise giving our chemicals a natural boost. But that’s only one side of the coin.

If I want to work smarter and not harder, if I want my brain to stop thinking when I’m trying to sleep, if I want to access intuition and receive inspiration, I must find a way to quiet the noise in my head. I do this by cultivating quiet within.

We hear that praying is our way to talk to the divine and meditation is like listening. If we want to receive the answers we are asking for, we must become quiet enough to hear them when they arrive in a whisper.

Our brains learn best while getting exercise and with the improved state, we learn on a cellular level, including the state of inner quiet.

Meditation can take many different forms. Sitting and emptying the mind is one way, but it is difficult initially. Many people give up before they start to feel the benefits. Breathing patterns and visualizations help me. Another way I find quiet is through yoga. Yoga involves breathwork first, then engaging in the body.

My favorite form of meditation is painting in watercolor. My mind clears and even any physical ailments subside. I never even have asthma while I’m painting. It seems to take me out of my mind and body and allows the inspiration to flow in freely.

I invite you to check out a free yoga course on YouTube. There are lots. My fave is                               . She has some great 30-day challenges that have been instrumental in my practice. Another great resource is the book Spark. Check out my              under               to find this         and other great growth options. It was a game changer in understanding the physiology of the brain and how exercise affects it. As always check out my                and                for additional inspo.
